Millgrove is a small township located along the Yarra, beneath the forested mountains of Mount Donna Buang. The town’s population was 1666 at the 2021 census count, with the main industry being the local timber mill.
This project called for the creation of a new community facility that would service diverse community needs. The building is the home of the Millgrove under 11 junior and infant soccer teams but also has the capacity to be merged to form one large community hall, a public gathering hall and a place of last resort.
Grayspace Architects developed a community centred project that utilised local materials and labour, and paid homage to the local timber mill which provided the timber for the project, including the feature Sugar Gum timber posts.
